Abstract Painting
This work came about through inspiration from the Baroque period paintings. I love how the artists of the time could pull emotion through form, color, and the movement of the subject matter. This early painting "Consequences of War" by Peter Paul Rubens inspired me through its dark subject matter, and the fight or struggle that ensues. As I work thought a painting I feel like I'm struggling to find an answer. In order to find that "answer" I work through the balance of color, form and subject matter. The light Cyan Blue (in my painting) is a strong, and powerful contrast, against the dark forms within the body of the painting. As you can see though the stages of this work you see the struggle and change. As I work through the piece I'm slowly finding peace to the answer I'm looking for. Art is an intimate thing especially for the artist.
